If you have often considered getting a Texas Concealed Handgun License but never followed through with taking the necessary steps, then here is your opportunity to become better educated on the topic so that you may make a more informed decision. 

Let’s face it, carrying a concealed firearm IS NOT for everyone.  Along with the extra protection that your firearm affords comes an incredible responsibility.  Because of this the State requires all applicants to successfully complete a 10 hour block of instruction on the following topics:

      Non-Violent Dispute Resolution

      Handgun use, proficiency and safety

      Safe storage practices

      Weapon laws and the use of deadly force

After completing this class, you can then decide for yourself if obtaining a CHL is the right choice for you.  Should you decide that it is not, then the process stops right there and you are never out any money to the State.  If you do choose to go forward then your application (along with course completion certificate) is submitted to Austin for approval.
